April 1929 issue of Judge Magazine. Great Art Deco cover illustration with vibrant colors. 32 pages including many humorous articles, great period advertisements and many hand drawn illustrations. Judge was a weekly magazine published in the United States from 1881 to 1947. There is a Dr. Seuss image inside as well as other hand drawn illustrations. The back page is an image of New York Yankee infielder Tony Lazzeri in a Lucky Strike ad.
The designer of the cover illustration, Rea Irvin, was a well known illustrator in his day and was one of the original creators of the New Yorker magazine, creating their iconic cover character that appeared on the first issue and is still used to this day, and he created their original type font for the cover.
A historic magazine.
