College Football Cheerleader Programs

College football cheer leading is believed to have been created at the University of Minnesota in 1898. Their first group of six cheerleaders were men. Like the horse and buggy, this tradition is disappearing as cheer leading squads go coed or all female. This post we celebrate the male cheerleader as depicted in Ivy League programs.

One of our favorite cheerleading covers is this Dartmouth v. Princeton program from 1966:

Famous male cheerleader have included president Franklin Roosevelt (Harvard), Dwight D. Eisenhower, and Steve Martin.
