Mint, unused, color, linen postcard entitled, "428 - Interior, Memorial Church, Stanford University, Palo Alto, California." Back reads, "Memorial Church, Stanford University, built as a memorial by Mrs. Stanford to her husband, Leland Stanford, is one of the most beautiful churches in America. The extensive use of art mosaics for mural decorations, beautiful stained glass windows and works of art throughout make it a structure more than unqiue in character, worthy of visiting and well remembered. Only non-sectarian services are held. Dedicated in January, 1903." Produced by Stanley A. Piltz Company, San Francisco, California.
Linen postcards were produced between 1930 and 1945 when a new printing processes allowed printers to produce postcards with high rag content, which gave them a look of being printed on linen, rather than paper. Linen postcards have a beautiful, subtle use of colors.
