Vintage c1900 Princeton University Wooden Paper Folding Fan

Vintage wooden Princeton Univesity fan made of paper in the school's colors of orange and black. Very delicate and in very good condition with some surface soiling from use. When fanned out it measures 14 inches. Also has black and orange tassels.

The fan was sold by the "fan department" at the B. Altman and Company department store located at the time on Sixth Avenue and 19th Street in New York City, and remnants of the original box come with the fan. B. Altman moved from the 19th Street location to 34th Street in 1906, thus dating the fan before then. The box has gone to pieces but is important to prove the provenance and to date the fan.

Difficult to date precisely, but these were popular at the turn of the 20th century.
