Hoffman was a well-known artist from Los Angeles who made these hand carved mascots for various Ivy League and other colleges in the 1950s. Hoffman also did some mascots for professional sports teams and even some lesser know and more obscure schools. Sold under the name "Carter Hoffman Artcraft" they have become highly collectible. Originally sold for a pricey $3.95 in the 1950s, these hand-carved wooden gems continue to be highly sought after.

The Columbia mascot is the rarest of all Hoffman collectibles.
